After much perserverance I finally captured this handsome fellow on camera! This is the Hairy Woodpecker which at first glance looks very similar to the Downy Woodpecker; only the Hairy is about 2″ bigger and his beak is much longer. The last couple of school weeks have not been easy for us. I’m talking specifically about structured school. Nature study and other non-textbook studies are always easy, but anything which requires sitting at a table and focusing has been truly disasterous.
