Sweet Corn Festival

I just love Summer!  It’s a time for outside fun of all sorts.  And one of the things I love best is going to small town festivals.  Today we went to the “Sweet Corn Festival” at Evans Orchard in Georgetown, KY (www.evansorchard.com).  Now Georgetown is no small town by any means, but this family ran orchard has “keeping the small town feel” down pat.  I just love that is not “over-commercialized” and feels quaint and welcoming, they have the cutest little country store.  My school group visits this orchard every year in the falltime, it is a tradition we always look forward to.  There’s an abundance of freshly picked apples and pumpkins of all kinds.  And of course a fall festival!

We had a great time, the weather was absolutely gorgeous.  And of course we ate way too much!  Isn’t that what you do at festivals?  I have to say that their sweet corn was the best “melt-in-your mouth” corn I’ve ever had!  Dave had two ears!  Another thing that I never, ever miss when going there is the homemade apple turnovers.  Oh, they are unbelievable ya’ll!  Not good for the diet, but they are a special treat for sure.  And did I mention their apple cider slushies?!  Evans is known for their scrumtious apples, but they aren’t short on all kinds of vegetables and other fruits.
